Colorado Avalanche divisional rival has offered an update on the injury status of all-star forward Jonathan Toews, and unfortunately, the news doesn't look promising as the NHL season draws near.
The latest update from the Winnipeg Jets regarding former the former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews' injury isn't encouraging.
Jonathan Toews' injury update appears to be worse than it seems.
Jack Sutherland from Hawks Insider writes that Toews has returned to the NHL, signing a one-year deal with hometown team, the Jets.
However, his comeback is already facing a setback. Toews suffered an injury against the Minnesota Wild after just 10 minutes of ice time and was unable to return to the game.
"Per head coach Scott Arniel, Toews tweaked something during the game and was therefore unable to keep playing." -Sutherland
The Jets head coach also added...
"He just tweaked something. Off day tomorrow, and we'll get a look at him Thursday and find out what it is." -Arniel
Toews already suffering an injury before he's even officially played a game in a Jets sweater is a cause for concern for Winnipeg.
Toews hasn't played in the NHL since April 2023, when he was still with the Blackhawks.
Following the team's decision not to re-sign him, the end of an era was officially marked for the captain who led Chicago to three Stanley Cups.
Toews has now joined his hometown Winnipeg Jets, who won the President's Trophy last season but fell to the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference semifinals.
He'll earn an AAV of $2 million this year, and Jets fans are hoping his recent injury isn't serious and that he can return to the ice soon.
