The Colorado Avalanche made big waves last NHL season when they traded Mikko Rantanen away. In return for that deal included center Jack Drury, while he didn't make the headlines during the trade, he is certainly in the spotlight now trying to cement himself on the third line.

The young center is ready for that next step by solving the gap in depth the Avalanche are facing.

Jack Drury could be the missing piece the Avalanche desperately need.

Katie Barlett of Mile High Sticking recently reported on the young center and the impact he can provide the team entering next NHL season.
"Jack Drury quickly won over Colorado Avalanche fans, media, teammates, and coaches alike with his work ethic, positive attitude, and easygoing personality. He gained coach Jared Bednar's trust and found himself playing valuable minutes in the Avs' bottom-six." -Barlett

His work ethic is what stands out the most, it is the reason his development has gone as well as it has. And it's not just working hard, it's working smart, Drury knows the qualities he needs as a 3rd line center like faceoffs, two play, and being hard to play against. These are the areas of the game Drury works on the most.
"After learning the Avs' systems and gaining the trust of the coaches, Drury now finds himself in a position to claim the 3C role. While he, Parker Kelly, and Logan O'Connor made an elite fourth line, Drury now has the opportunity to show that he can handle bigger responsibilities. If he does start the season in that position, his linemates would perhaps be Ross Colton and Victor Olofsson." -Barlett

If this line comes to fruition and Drury becomes a reliable two-way center, the Avalanche will have three legitimately competitive lines.
Avalanche fans should be excited for the start of the season to see how far Drury has come. With one more pro off-season under his belt he should be ready to take on that bigger role and it is exactly what the Avalanche need.
