Nathan MacKinnon has picked up right where he left off at the 2025 IIHF World Championships.

After a tough playoff exit, despite scoring seven goals in the series against the Dallas Stars, he's kept up his scoring touch and continues to find the back of the net on the international stage.

MacKinnon continues to dominate at the World Championships.

Nestor Quixtan from Mile High Sticking writes that through three games with Team Canada, Nathan MacKinnon has tallied four goals and four assists for eight points. He's brought the same level of drive and determination to the IIHF World Championships that he displayed during the 4 Nations Face-Off earlier this year, showing his unwavering commitment to winning on the international stage.
"While winning the World Championships doesn't quite compare to winning the Stanley Cup, it would be a solid consolation prize after a disappointing end to the Colorado Avalanche's NHL season." -Quixtan

Although no opponent should be taken lightly, Canada is favored to extend its unbeaten streak as it builds momentum for a highly anticipated clash with Finland on May 19.
With a roster stacked with elite talent, Team Canada looks poised to reclaim Gold after settling for a frustrating fourth-place finish in last year's tournament.
"This year, MacKinnon won tourney MVP at the 4 Nations Face-Off. He ended the tourney with four goals in four games. MacKinnon led the tourney with his four tallies, providing precisely the scoring depth Team Canada needed from its second line." -Quixtan

Looking ahead, MacKinnon appears to be a near-lock for Team Canada's 2026 Olympic roster. While no official selections have been announced yet, it would be shocking if MacKinnon were left off the squad for what will be the most significant international hockey tournament in over a decade.
Canada's next game will go on Saturday against Slovakia. Puck drop is set for 2:20pm.
