Pat Maroon, the recently retired star forward from the Colorado Avalanche's divisional rival Chicago Blackhawks, is set to return to hockey with a new team next season.

Three-time Stanley Cup champion Pat Maroon called it a career this year, retiring from the NHL after appearing in 848 games.

Pat Maroon makes a shocking career move.

Jack Sutherland from House of Hockey writes that Maroon, a former NHL forward who retired this year after 848 games and three Stanley Cups, is returning to the game as a member of the USHL Muskegon Lumberjacks coaching staff.
Maroon captured a Stanley Cup with his hometown St. Louis Blues before going on to win-to-back championships with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021.
Pat Maroon announced in March that he was retiring from the NHL.
Maroon made the difficult decision to officially hang up his skates, announcing his retirement to Blackhawks colour analyst Darren Pang before a matchup against his former Blues teammates.
"Sometimes you gotta give up everything you know, everything you've dreamed of your whole life. Just know it's time for me and it's time for my family to go start a new chapter in our lives.

I'm just gonna finish this year - every game's gonna be my last game. This is all I know... it's tough. It's hard to go through things like this, you can't really process it, but I think it's best for me and my family to go and start a new chapter." -Maroon

Over the course of his career, Maroon also suited for the Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey, Minnesota Wild, and Boston Bruins.
