In a stunning turn of events, a blockbuster trade proposal suggests sending Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup hero Nazem Kadri to the Montreal Canadiens, adding a surprising twist to the offseason rumour mill.

Kadri might have played his final game with the Calgary Flames, and the forward has expressed a desire to join the Canadiens.
Gabriel Sami from All Habs writes that one fan put forward an intriguing trade proposal to bring the veteran forward to Montreal.
At 34, Kadri is hearing up for his 16th NHL season. His career has seen him play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Colorado Avalanche, where he won the Stanley Cup in 2022 with them, and most recently, the Calgary Flames.
"The London, Ontario native probably isn't Kent Hughes' top target, and Hughes remains very active on the trade market after acquiring Noah Dobson and Zachary Bolduc earlier this summer. However, according to Nick Kypreos, Kadri would like to play for the Habs and is willing to waive his no move clause." -Sami

In the 2024-25 season, the center notched 35 goals and 67 points over 82 games. The previous year, he recorded 29 goals and 75 points. Remarkably, Kadri hasn't missed a single game since the 2021-22 season.
On social media, a fan shared a trade proposal aimed at bringing Kadri to the Canadiens in exchange for top defender Mike Matheson, forward prospect Filip Mesar, and a 7th-round draft pick.
"It's true that Matheson has decent value on the market, but we believe Craig Conroy will ask for a lot more in return for his forward-especially since Kadri just scored 35 goals last season and is under contract at $7,000,000 annually through 2028-29." -Sami

If the 7th-round pick were maybe swapped for a 1st-round pick, along with Matheson and Mesar, this trade proposal would start to look a lot more feasible.
