NHL sends Avalanche fans reeling with unexpected announcement on newcomer

Parker Kelly joined the Avalanche as a free agent during the 2024 offseason and delivered am impressive first season in Colorado.
Kelly posted career bests in assists with 11, total points with 19, even-strength points with 17, and an average ice time of 12:45 per game.

Coby Maeir from NHL.com writes that Kelly also matched his career highs in goals with 8, and games played with 80. Since hits began being officially recorded in 2005-06, he became just the third player to appear in at least 80 games and register 150 or more hits in his first season with the Avalanche, joining Blake Comeau (2015-16) and Gabriel Landeskog (2011-12).

Kelly needed his first goal as a member of the Avalanche on November 15th against the Washington Capitals and later tallied his first multi-goal game of the season on March 14th versus the Calgary Flames in his home province of Alberta.

Heading into the 2025-26 season, Kelly is entering the final year of his contract. He sits just 43 games shy of reaching 300 in his career and is 46 points away from hitting the 100-point milestone.
