NHL releases statement concerning Colorado Avalanche forward Joel Kiviranta.
Coby Maeir from NHL.com writes that during the 2024-25 season,
Kiviranta recorded two seperate goal streaks lasting three games. The first occured from October 20-24, when he netted four goals over three games against the San Jose Sharks, Seattle Kraken, and Utah Hockey Club, contributing to a five-game winning streak for the Avalanche.
"Kiviranta was a main fixture in the Avs' third line, which in a season full of change, was a mark of consistency." -Maeir
In the 2024-25 season, Kiviranta recorded three multi-goal games, including a standout performance on December 22nd when he scored his first regular-season hat trick in a 5-2 win over the Kraken.
In March, Kiviranta found the back of the net in four straight games, scoring against the Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, and Minnesota Wild. The Avalanche won the first three matchups and earned a point in their game against the Wild.
Maeir also writes that as he heads into the offseason, Kiviranta is an unrestricted free agent. He is approaching several career milestones, sitting just two games shy of 300, 65 goals away from 100, 75 assists short of 100, and 40 points away from reaching the 100-point mark.
We'll wait and see if the Avalanche will choose to resign the forward after an impressive offensive season.
