An insider has just revealed a shocking update on Colorado Avalanche all-star veteran defenseman Brent Burns, including a possible leak of his new jersey number ahead of the upcoming NHL season.
Burns was spotted dawning the Avalanche colours at a morning skate with the team's new skills coach Milan Hejduk.

Brennan Vogt from Hockey Mountain High took to social media earlier today to reveal that Burns was rocking number 84 at a morning skate.
Brent Burns is currently wearing number 84 for the Colorado Avalanche. The number has never been worn in Avs/Nordiques franchise history.
Burns was seen practicing with Avalanche legend and new skills coach Milan Hejduk in preparation for his 22nd NHL season.

Burns will earn a $1 million base salary next season, with performance bonuses on games played that could push the total to $4 million.
The veteran all-star recorded six goals and 23 assists over 82 games last season with the Carolina Hurricanes.
The 40-year-old has spent the past three seasons in Carolina following an 11-year run with the San Jose Sharks and seven seasons with the Minnesota Wild. Across his NHL career, Burns has tallied 261 goals and 649 assists in 1,497 games.
A native of Barrie, Ontario, Burns was selected 20th overall by the Wild in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and made his debut during the 2003-04 season.
He won the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman in 2017 while playing for the San Jose Sharks.
